Stuck Flashing BIOS, Blackscreen, no storage devices

I just bought a new motherboard, and I had a problem with dual-monitors, suddenly 1 monitor would stop being detected by the system, and could only be resolved by a reboot.

A google search showed that updating the bios would likely resolve this issue, as the video drivers were already up-to-date (Intel onboard graphics).

ASUS H170M-PLUS is the motherboard.

I downloaded and un-zipped the bios to a USB Flash drive, entered the bios, and used the flash utility. It detected the USB Device, and flashed the bios. It appeared to all go successfully.

After reboot, the bios post screen came up, and then a black screen.
I rebooted tried to enter the bios with the same black screen coming up after the post screen.

Another google search showed that I should reset the CMOS. I have completed this, and now it forces me to press F1 to enter the BIOS to fix up the settings, but I still couldn't get into the bios.

I then disconnected all the storage devices, and 1 of the RAM sticks to see if it would help.

It did seem to help a little bit, as it would enter the bios, but only to say I need to re-flash the same bios rom that I did before. Unfortunately plugging in the USB stick did not show up the device, so I rebooted with it connected, and now I get the same black screen, so I am unable to flash the bios the 2nd time with any storage connected.

There is an option to flash via the internet. When I select this option it says I need to reboot for the network to start, I click ok, it restarts and I am back at square one where it asks me to reboot for the network..

I have tried to contact ASUS support by phone, and they say the only support for motherboards is via e-mail only, so they created me a case and sent me an email asking for the S/N, while I wait for a technician to be available. So I have sent off the details and will see what they come back with.

In the mean time does anyone have any suggestions? A friend mentioned I could try and burn the ROM to a CD/DVD and try that.. But I suspect I will get a black screen if I connect a SATA device, but I am getting desperate so will try in the morning.

Solution
For solving the BIOS issue, an option would be ordering a BIOS chip on ebay and replacing the board's one.
For the dual monitor issue, it could be the monitor, the video cable, or the graphics card.
