I had a portable Toshiba 1tb hard drive which my lovely kids managed to break the usb connector off the main connect board . I brought a identical Toshiba portable hard drive and swopped out the faulty damaged board with a new one.
The old HDD with the new interconnect board now boots up and I can see it in disk management, but I can cant do anything else . it seems not to recongnize the drive. I cant see it from bios either. The drive seems to be spinning fine too. Cant loose this data. any solutions,or ideas guys?
PS Seagate hdd tool doesn't work either

Hi there robertma78,

Given the fact that the data stored on the drive is really important, my suggestion would be to unplug the drive and look for some professional help. Most of the HDD manufacturers offer their own data recovery services or have trusted data recovery partners. The guys over there should be able to provide some useful information on that.

Cheers,
