CPU Making My games lag?

Hi when i play games like csgo and overwatch i get random lag spikes. in cs i will have 200-250 frames then it will drop to 50. And in overwatch i will have 70 frames and it will drop to 15 frames.
My cpu is amd fx8350, my gpu is radeon hd6970. 8gb of ram.

What is the problem?

That board uses a weak VRM setup(4+1), monitor your cpu frequency and see if it's dropping to 1.4Ghz when the fps drops occur as it could be overheating vrms throttling the cpu. Monitor the cpu temps aswell. What cpu cooler are you using?

the cooler I have is the cooler master hyper 212x and I wont be able to monitor the frequencies till tomorrow as it is to late in the day

That cooler is going to make the VRM issue worse as it directs air away from VRMs. ASRocks even states when using an fx8350 with that board you need to use a cpu cooler with a top down blowing design like the stock cooler or a raijintek pallas. With a 212 theres a good chance you are seeing VRM throttling, which is causing the fps drops.

The raijintek pallas is a good choice for the cpu and motherboard. There's also the Thermalright AXP-100 Muscle , Phanteks PH-TC12LS and Phanteks PH-TC14CS.

I fixed the problem by ghetto mounting a fan between my cpu cooler and the back of my case it provides direct airflow to the VRM and haven't had lag at all today
