With a 6700K & SLI will a M.2 Drive and 2 SSD's in Raid 0 work?

Hi,

Please could someone confirm if the following system would work and have enough PCIe lanes, including the PCH lanes provided on the mobo.

CPU: Intel i7 6700K
Mobo: Asus VII Mxaimus Formula
GPU's: 2 x GTX 1080's (Water-Cooled Founder's Edition's)
Editing Software and OS Drive: Samsung SM961 (Waiting on release)
Other Drive: 2 x Samsung 850 Pro's in Raid 0 ( 2 x 1TB)

Thanks!

Solution

the M2 and the sata in Raid 0 will all share the DMI3.0 link

because The M2 in your Motherboard uses the chipset lanes and the Chipset is connected to the CPU using DMI3.0 link which is 4GB/s Max

Get X99 motherboard for such System , and with 40 lanes CPU better will be (16x , 16 x sli , 8 free lanes ) . If you want to save money get 28 Lanes...

Read the manual but it should work. The 1080s would be PCI3 x8 mode but not a big deal. The m.2 would take away your first (or maybe 2) sata ports, still leaving four open slots for the raid.

Edit: I'd really recommend passing on raid for the ssd's. What would you be trying to speed up, exactly?
