Which CPU is batter for gaming and a small amount photo editing (no video).

I want to keep it for about 5 years and will probably upgrade the GPU once within the 5 years.
I will not be overclocking so is the non-k better.

Graphics card GTX 1060 or more likely AMD rx 480.
Is it worth the extra £100 as I am on a tight budget.

The only reason I'm thinking of the i7 is that it will not limit me at all but mainly 8 cores is likely to be needed in the next few years so the i5 won't be as good?

Also why is the AMD fx half the price of an i7 but has almost the same specs?
What does the i7 have over AMD fx?

Thanks and ask if you want the rest of my build

Solution
get the 6600k, its more than enough for your needs.

the specs of the fx series arent even close to an i7. even the i3 beats the best fx series in certain games(fallout 4). the i7 is miles better.

If you're not overclocking, don't get a -k CPU, as they cost more and don't come with a stock cooler.

As mentioned above, an i5 should be sufficient for your needs if you're on a tight budget. And you can't compare cores/GHz between different CPU architectures (i.e. AMD FX vs Intel i7). The specs may look the same on paper but performance is quite different.
