How to set up Push/Pull on 780t?

Hi All,

Here is my build. (see below) I am about to pull the trigger, but I just have some questions on how the I should configure my fans for the best results. I understand this case is definitely big enough for a push/pull. I am planning on doing it on the roof of the case with two 140MM on the inside with the rad, and 2 on the top above the bracket just below the mesh plate. My question is i guess, is this the smartest way to go? Also, I have heard good things/not so good things about the fan quality that comes with the H110GTX. Do I need to invest in some Noctuas? Or the new Corsair ML Series and replace the stock rad fans?

Does anyone have experience with the 780t case fans and how they perform? I am looking for performance here, but I also don't want to feel like I'm in a wind tunnel with the noise that will be generated.

Finally, related to all this, I understand that SP fans are better for intake to the rad, and AF fans are best when aimed at the components? Sorry for my confusion, I am a first time builder and I want to make sure I get it right.

I would keep the original fans for now...
Now about push+pull:
It may be creating turbulence between the fans, and not removing the hot air as well. .

Push/Pull is better due to the increased Static Pressure (how hard the air is being pushed) of the air moving through the rad. But it's only once your using thicker and denser rads where Push/Pull make a noticeable difference to performance.

Good luck ^^

Hey! I've got a 780T that I used a H100i GTX on. The only difference being that your fans and radiator will be slightly bigger.

I used a sandwich method. 2 fans in the top bay, radiator below the rack, two fans below the radiator. This is basically getting the most airflow pushed/pulled through the radiator. This allowed my CPU to be overclocked by 35%.

You will want to use SP fans as opposed to AF fans. Also, I occasionally read where someone says that the fans that come with the system are noisy - I definitely didn't have that experience. You'll basically have the same setup I do if you add 2 more fans and I have to put my ear up to the case to hear the fans. I used these to match the fans that come standard at the front of the case.

I'd get the H110 installed with the fans above and radiator below. See how it works for you, as far as performance and noise goes. You can get 2-4 fans after that, if you want. They're really easy to add.

Awesome!! Thanks so much! Yeah, I was gonna do the same sandwich method you described. I guess I'll use all SP fans then. Glad to know it worked out for you.
Anything else you might suggest or add onto that as in tips/pointers?

Not sure what motherboard you're using but my motherboard came with a fan controller extension board which I had to use. May want to make sure you have enough fan ports.

The other things was that my motherboard only had 2 USB2 ports. I needed 2 for Corsair Link (CPU cooler and PSU) and another for the case. Had to buy an NZXT USB2 extension board off Amazon for about $15.

The case is awesome and even though I spent over $400 on a motherboard, I still needed more connections. May want to check that out before you get to build day, like I did.

That's all I can think of. Good luck with the build! Feel free to contact me if you run into anything weird with the case.

Thank you SO much! I will shoot you a message if I need to for any reason. Btw, my MOBO is the Rog Formula VIII. I guess I'll figure out if it has the necessary amount of USB ports, also I believe the Mobo I'm getting has a fan controller built in.
