I've just built a new computer, and, after installing the drivers for my gpu all seemed fine until I tried to start a game via steam. All of the development studio intro videos played, but when any of the games would usually display the start menu, instead the screen goes black and says "No signal". The computer is remains on, but I'm forced to reset. This is happening for any game I try, not any game specifically.

I'm thinking it might be a problem with either the psu or gpu.

Specs:
Motherboard: ASUS Z170-P
Processor: intel i5 6400 2.7GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengence (2x4GB @ 2400MHz)
GPU: MSI GTX 970
PSU: 500W ATX-500B

OS: Windows 10 64-bit

Let me know if there is any other information I can give you guys, this is my first build.

EDIT:

I tried a game that was less graphically intense and it worked until there was a lot of stuff was going on at which point the screen went black as usual.

As for the PSU, I can't tell what brand it is. All it says is "ATX SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY MODEL: ATX-500B". It says MAX003 elsewhere on the sticker but I can't tell if that's the model number or not. I originally bought the PC from ebay and the PSU is one of the parts I've kept for the new build. The motherboard, cpu, RAM, gpu, and SSD are all new. The psu and case are not.

For any game at all? That's really strange. I'd start by uninstalling your GPU and reinstalling the latest (non-BETA) driver from nVidia's site.

Is this a clean install of Windows 10? Or did you just attach a drive with Windows installed from your old rig?

Do you know the make/model of your PSU?

It's strange that the system remains on, which makes me lean towards the driver issue. I'd expect it to restart itself if the PSU was at fault - that's not to say it can't be the cause, of course.
