PC Freezing and 100% CPU Usage

Hello, I built my PC about a couple years ago and up until lately, I have had not problems. I've been running a GTX 970, i5 4690K, 8gb memory, ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO motherboard. Reasonably often, I can be playing a game such as Rust or sometimes even Overwatch and suddenly my PC freezes though I can still hear teamspeak in the background and I am forced to manually reboot. When this happens, I notice my CPU usage is at about 95-100%. I assume this is bad and most likely the cause. I haven't heard any very loud sounds but I am able to hear the fans.

update: Using windows 10, Evga supernova 750 g2 psu

I've never known these games to be to demanding for it only started lately. Is it necessary to upgrade or is there an easier fix?

Sounds like you could have a malware issue, do you use a malware program like Malware bytes or Spybot Search & Destroy?

If the PC is clean of malwere, I would consider the PSU oor win itself as a likely cuprit. Btw, state PSU and Win version, aswell as if it's upto date.

You can DL it for free then run it, then DL another like Spybot and run it. Then run them once a week to keep your system free of malware. Unlike anti-virus software you can run multiple malware programs w/o issue.

If teh 10 is upto date, you're good. MalwareBytes would be my first go-to for this.
