Hello,
So I have an old Dell XPS 435mt and I was hoping to upgrade the GPU but I released there wasn't enough clearance for the fan. So I decided I wanted to upgrade the case to an NZXT Source 220 but I don't know if it would be compatible. So yah, anyone know if it would work?

Solution
yup check the model as for a while they used that btx and it is not compatible. plus look at how the case power switches and such plug into the mobo. some of the xps models used a usb plugin card to get the power switch and such hooked up. this causes problems when you try to hook up the new case power switch since the mobo won't have the pins for it.

so check those 2 things and if they are good, then you should be fine to move it.

Hey, How do I tell if it a 'BTX' board? Because from what II've read online it says it's a Micro-ATX (This is the site I am using)

It's on the right and it's an 435mt

on page 35 of this http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_studio_xps_desktop/studio-xps-435_service%20manual_en-us.pdf

you can see that the lower right (#15) is where the front panel plugs into the mobo. check and see if it is the normal pins that have to be plugged in or if it is an internal usb type connector.

this is what wil make the swap tricky if you have the usb connector instead of the normal pins to place for the power switch and the other stuff on the front of the new case.

Sorry not much of a computer wiz, whats the difference between an internal USB connector and normal type. From what I can see it's a 4*2 cord that plugs into the mobo.

this is what the case you want to use will have to connect to the motherboard.

Yah thats pretty much what I'm looking at ( I would attach a photo but I can't get a good picture due to my GPU >.>) but how would I I hook the cables up?

the new case wires will look like the top pick and be labeled the same. use the link to the pin layout to see where to plug each one in. should be the right layout. if they are wrong nothing will blow up, just won't work until you switch em around :)

this is the tricky part. might have to re-arrange them a couple times to get the hdd and power led's in the right place. they can be backwards in diagrams sometimes.
