So I am looking to build a PC that will be used for emulations. All the retro as well as gamecube and PS2. I was given a PC for free that I can upgrade to an AMD 64 x2 6000+ and would have 4 GB DDR2 ram. And I was also looking to get a cheap GPU as well.

Do you think that this would be good enough for the emulators? Or do you have a suggestion for a cheap PC build for emulation?

Solution
look at the requirement for the emulators you trying to run the Ps2 and game looks like they want a core dual or better also you run into issues not sure if the Pent 4 or even the AMD 64x2 have PCIe slots they maybe AGP's and normal PCI slots.

I am trying to keep it as low as possible. The lower the better. And because I want to have my games on one system by my TV and not have a bunch of systems sitting around.

well you say that you can upgrade to AMD "64 x2 6000" which looks like it will run you about $30 (cpu and some sort of fan) what the current specs of that system and while I know you want to be as cheap as possible but have you thought about maybe trying to get a old refrub core dual machine instead ?

Try find an extreme cheap gpu. I think something like GT 730 which cost around 50 bucks and can withstand some pc games too

Well you can pick up a HP SSF refurbish for under $80 on ebay though I recommend wiping the OS it and installing your own copy of windows for the most part the only problems I have run into with those models are bad hard drives so you may need to replace it at least I would a system test. Then slap in a cheap say GT low profile 730 1 GDDR5 and you should have a ok PC emulation. Though you may want to look at the requirements not sure what Game cube and PS2 needs to be considered playable.
