Hello guys,

yesterday my full PC System from a German manufacturer arrived. It has the Gigabyte z170c Gaming Motherboard in it. I have a Samsung SSD 250GB EVO, a LG CD Reader and a Seagate 1TB HDD. Now my Problem is. The SSD gets detected and the LG Reader too. But the PC wont detect the 1TB Seagate HDD. I tried reconnecting the SATA ports but until now I dont have a solution. Is it possible the manufacturer used the wrong ports? In which port have the devices to be?

1. Samsung EVO 250G SSD = SATA Port ?
2. Seagate 1TB HDD = SATA Port ?
3. LG CD Reader = SATA Port ?

Thx for help in advance.

Greetings from Germany, Lucas

Hi there xLucas96k,

I believe you will need to go to your MOBO's website and update the drivers.

Have you checked whether the HDD is recognized by BIOS and Disk Management. As this is a new drive, it could be recognized by Disk Management as non initialized one. You will need to initialize and partition and format it.

If the drive is not recognized by BIOS, you need to attach the drive with different SATA and power cables to another port.

I don't think that this is related to the SATA ports the drives are attached to. Usually, the SSD should be attached to port 0, while the secondary one should be attached to SATA port 1.

Let me know how this goes,

Hello,

I ckecked my BIOS yesterday. It recognizes my SSD, then again my SSD, then my CD Reader. It doesnt Show up the HDD from Seagate. I cant do a Partition for it, since it doesnt Show up there to. At the Moment I cant really tell if it is even getting power or not. When I turn on my PC I dont feel anything with my fingers on the HDD. Im really new into this pc Thing so hopefully I will get the connectors right. When Im back fom work I will try it to connect to a diferent power SATA.

Thank you for now :)
