My laptop just died after its 6th year, towards the end of its life span i was getting 18-25fps on minium graphics for games like Path of Exile, Heros of storm and starcraft 2.

I'm looking to build a pc that will be able to handle games like the witcher 3 on max graphics settings, starcraft, overwatch and any other high demanding games to come in the foreseeable future. I would like it to be highly upgradable.

Im not planning on running on a 4k, I would just like to run 1980x1080 at 60+fps.

I feel like the gtx1070 might be overkill for my budget but if you guys think that it can handle any upcoming games for the next 5-6 years I would be happy.

My build attempt http://pcpartpicker.com/list/xpbJ8K : any opinions, additions or subtractions are welcome.

Hey, Hellfire ty for your response.
Would you mind giving me a quick explanation as to why you chose the i5 over the i7?

I am on a budget, but its $100 more than the i5, if i wait a little longer to purchase to get the i7, i would technically save my self $400 in the future. I only asked because i see a lot of people using the i5 instead even in more expensive builds.

You only included the computer components, but no peripherals. Monitor, speakers, mouse, and keyboard must all be included into your build. You mentioned your laptop dying, which includes an all-in-one pc so to speak. Mainstream graphics from AMD's rx 480 or nvidia's 1060 should handle 1080 resolution fine. Our current generation of graphics is trying to make VR and 4k resolution more widely accessible / compatible.

As for your components, I have two gripes.

1. I'd personally recommend the Corsair Obsidian Series Black 450D for the case over your Rosewill case. The side panel just looks like a converse sign for some reason. If that's your preference, then go ahead. Sorry for disagreeing with you.

2. You failed to mention storage drives (huge factor). Choose a reliable ssd and hard drive. That's your own extensive research to look for. Brands/price have to do with your own call. good luck.
