HI,

I have a Gateway computer that was just at the shop being repaired. Came back with a fan doing 4,000 RPM's. I know very little about computers. How do I turn this down to its usual and healthy 800 to 1,200?

I need simple terms because I'm a simple man.

My thanks to you.

1| Can you please specify the SKU/model number for your Gateway system?
2| If you can operate the keyboard, you can tap the DEL or F2 or F12 key right after powering up your machine from a cold boot to enter your BIOS and then set the fan speed to the desired RPM.

I would however like to state that since you're not proficient in dealing with computers, there is a probability that you may be in err. I'd suggest that you take it back to the repair shop explaining how it was before you gave it in for repair and how it ended up as soon as you got it home.
