I have a i5-4670 CPU and my mother board (Z87 G43) is capable of running RAM at 2400Mhz by enabling XMP Profile.
i needed to know if my CPU together with my MOBO will support CMY16GX3M2A2400C10R and run RAM at 2400 MHz.
The Intel website says that i5-4670 can support upto 1600Mhz.
Please some one help me here and help me decide, should i buy this RAM or not??

my thing is if your not using a ''K'' chip best to stick with the cpu's native 1600 speed on the memory cause you may need to bump up / overclock the chip / cpu to help maintain stability of higher speed memory

so with intel anything over 1600 in haswell is considered a overclock [opinion]

what if I buy this ram now and enable XMP in BIOS, will it be able to run at 1600 MHz, ??
May be I keep this RAM and later when I upgrade my CPU to some one which can run RAM at 2400Mhz, I use the same sticks....
Suggestions please

with a non k chip and memory over 1600 all you can do is set xmp and hope for the best cause you will not be able to adjust the cpu to the higher memory speeds as needed for any stability if needed

like tradesman1 states from here

''If it runs under XMP at 2400 then you are fine, if you get BSODs or the like then can manually drop it to 2133 with no problem and try there, plent of 4790s (non-K) can run 2400 with no problems

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2867815/2400mhz-ram-cpu.html

comes down to how lucky / unlucky you are cause you can adjust the cpu for the memory as you can for a unlocked ''k'' chip

yiou may stick it in set xmp and be 100% good to go then you may not ? that's the chance you take going over the spec like any overclocked part '' its all your own risk '' intel only guarantees and spec's 1600 on haswell . anything over that is all on you

no just if not stable it may just default to say 1600 if not so stable you may need to downclock it from 2400 or upclock it from 1600 to a stable speeds and timings but theres no harm in using 2400 you stand a better chance it will work as expected then you do it will not then if not just adjust it down to a stable point you can find maybe the 2400 will run great at 1866 ??
no big deal outher then a little bios work to get the best stable speeds if not the full 2400

I use non k chips but then I just play it safe with 1600 seems to do just as well everyday use for me . but ya, at todays prices may as well go for the 2400 it will work at 1600 or what ever you find in between that and 2400 if not at 2400 no prob..

thing is theres all ways that slight chance it may not hold 2400 cause you cant adjust the cpu to match the memory if it was to be needed to do so , that's all

so go for the 2400 and fingures crossed it will still work fine at any speeds less the that if it was to faid to be stable at 2400 anyway

hang on and see if tradesman1 will answer here he's pretty slick on memory and may explain a bit better then me on this
