I currently have an Actiontec(Verizon) GT704WGB, I have a TPlink Archer C7 on order from amazon. What I want to do is use the Actiontec as a modem only so I can use the full functions of the newer shinier Archer C7. From what I've read, the Actiontec doesn't have a true bridge mode, but certain features can be turned off, essentially making it a bridge, any help would be appreciated

Solution
You can plug three Ethernet cables into the C7, and three into the Actiontec - the three attached to the C7 will connect to one another at gigabit since the C7 ports are gigabit, while those on the Actiontec will connect at 100Mbps to one another or anything on the C7 since the Actiontec ports are only Fast Ethernet (100Mbps).

You can turn off the radio on the Actiontec or leave it on and have a radio for old B/G connections but you will primarily use the C7 radios as they are much better. You just have to insure that the 2.4GHz radio on the C7 is set to a different non-overlapping channel than the Actiontec, so choose from 1, 6, and 11 between them.

You won't notice any difference using either of them as a router, as home use is not...

The easiest and most stable thing to do is to set up the Archer C7 as an access point.

You still let the Actiontec do the routing, make an LAN to LAN connection between the two devices, disable DHCP on the C7 and give it an IP address that is in the network range but outside the Actiontec DHCP assignment range, then just set up your radio channels and security on the C7 however you want.

I have a couple questions on that,

1) Would I plug devices into the C7 or Actiontec? Because I would want to be using the C7, how about wifi? One of the main reasons I bought the C7 was to boost the wifi, as the actiontec is old and of of date. Would I disable wifi on the actiontec?

2)This might be a dumb question but how do I find the dhcp assignment range, and IP address network range?

I'm not sure if this solution is what I'm looking for as I want the C7 to be the primary router and the Actiontec to be a modem

If you wish to use bridge mode and see how well it works for you, follow THIS guide.
