Hey guys
My current SPECS
CPU AMD A10 5800K
GPU GTX 760 OC EDITION 2GB
RAM 8GB 1600 PNY
MOBO Fatal1ty FM2A88X+ Killer
PSU EVHA 500Watts 80 PLUS

So, I currently I have a AMD APU 10 5800K 4.2GHz(4cores/ FM2 Socket) with a Fatal1ty FM2A88X+ Killer motherboard.

I do a lot of gaming and I finally want to change my CPU to an Intel i7 4790k 4.0ghz with an ASUS B85M-G R2.0, DDR3-SDRAM MOBO
Do I just need to change my MOBO and CPU for my system to run correctly or do I need some other components?
Help

Yeah
But by clean install you mean I can do somethin like installing the new mobo and cpu then start up the system and put the installation disk and select reinstall Windows
Or do I have to erase ALL info from my PC?

Yes you can install the new cpu and MB and boot up the computer. You will want to select the dvd drive as your first boot order in the bios and boot to the windows disc. You will have to format your C drive and reinstall windows again. If you have anything important on the drive save on another drive or usb stick before you format.

Do not have any other drive plugged in when you install windows, just the DVD drive and your main drive.

While you may be able to perform a repair installation of Windows and get it running with the new equipment, the fact that you're asking what's going to happen shows that you haven't quite got the experience to expect good results from trying to go this route.

Always back up anything important to you before making major, possibly system breaking changes like this.

After your backup, of course, knowing there is no longer a danger to anything you've backed up, a great way to gain more experience repairing Windows is to pop the disk in and set about a repair installation. If you can't get it sorted, a quick install from scratch from your installation media, and you should be set to start restoring your back up.

1) Don't cheap out on the motherboard if getting a "K" series like the i7-4790K.

At this point, I'd probably get a SKYLAKE built though the cost of DDR4 memory is added (you'd probably want more than 8GB of DDR3 so the total cost might not be significantly different between Haswell and Skylake).

I wouldn't get an i7 desktop CPU if you don't have the budget for everything else to be good. Motherboard, video card etc.

2) Video card?
If you can't afford the entire system, then I'd just replace the video card for now. Perhaps a GTX1070.

benchmark:
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1070_Gaming_X/24.html

Your results will be similar or LOWER depending on the game when using the AMD CPU, however it's still a much better idea to upgrade the video card than anything else if that's all you can afford.

*As you can see some games will be almost 3X as fast with your system and the GTX1070. So you can estimate somewhere between 2X and 3X the FPS with your CPU.

With the core Skylake parts (i5-6600K CPU), if we add in Windows its over $500USD.

You could save a bit with Haswell likely, but I wanted to see if it would cost at least as much as a GTX1070 and it does. You can get a cheaper motherboard, but I really don't recommend that if you can avoid it. Thus, I stick by my comment that you shouldn't even rebuild your system without the money for a good graphics card as well.

So the GTX1070 alone (i.e. MSI Gaming X) when prices stabilize is my recommendation. Then, build the system later if you want.

Yeah, as for changing the graphs card. I`m not quite interested in doing that, I bought the 760 some months ago.
My current CPU is bottlenecking my GPU so I want to change that only.
Now, Im getting the i5 4690K which is basically the same as the 4790k (only difference more OC cababiity).
Now what motherboard would you guys recommend me for my 4690K CPU? I don`t want a really expensive one)if it has sata 6GBs ports and 32GB of RAM capabilty, I`m good with that).
Thank you photonboy, but I`ll probably be changing GPU in a year or so.

As for the WIN10 installation, I don`t have a disc, I have the ISO image on a USB stick( I already used it once for intsall WIN10 on my current pc, so no problem 4 that).
Now, I should
1)Back up
2)Restore my PC or just turn it off
3)Install MOBO &CPU
4)Install Windows/ Or just plug my USB Drive go the BIOS and select me USB Drive as a boot up device
