Hello ,
i've recently decided to upgrade my RAM and bought this kit : https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-2400MHz-PC3-19200-KHX24C11T3K2-16X/dp/B00A771ZJG/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=8Y6GBEERF2JFC37960FW

My motherboard is ASRock Fatal1ty Z77 Performance : http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z77%20Performance/?cat=Specifications

I've been told that in order to make my RAM actually have 2400MHz i need to go to the bios and just enable the appropriate XMP profile.

When i went into the BIOS i had 2 XMP profiles to choose from.
I went with the one that had 2400Mhz.
My PC failed to boot a few times and when i check my RAM in CPU-Z i still have 1600MHz.

Did i do something wrong? if so , how can i fix it without breaking my PC?
Thanks in advance.

SR-71 nailed it, you pretty much need a K model CPU for 2133 or 2400 as those data rates often require a bit of an OC on the CPU. Might initially try 1866 manually at 10-10-10-27 and DRAM voltage at 1.6 - if that runs OK we could try pushing to 2133 ;) Else should run fine at 1600 9-9-9-24 1.5
