Two problems

    1. Lots of crackling and static. Mouse movements and keyboard strokes very noticeable
    2. No sound from programs. I can play test sounds from my Realtek HD Audio Manager just fine but everything else is a zero. The sound bars will move and all but no sound.

All started after physically moving my PC. Sound was playing fine but with static. Then I re-inserted my jacks and then no sound. I've restarted the PC to no avail. Windows 10 also installed an update recently.

I can only play sound via my USB audio device.

Already tried to no avail:

  • Troubleshoot
    Driver updates
    Removing other USB devices
    Playing audio via front jacks
    Using different speakers and headphones
Sacrificing neighbour's pet cat to Lord Bhaal

Motherboard damage?

Solution
had the same issue. u may have had a surge/outage recently. if not, i dunno.

personally, i bought a sound card off of craigslist. It worked. Then i upgraded my graphics card for the 7950 and got stutters, so i removed drivers completely and reinstalled the amd drivers. I also moved my subwoofer below my desk to avoid interference with the cables. Also, i avoid using HW monitor 64 (monitors temperatures) because it's known to cause stutters as well. Til this day, i dont use front jacks anymore. I'm afraid my motherboard is damaged as well (the usb works though as well as other features, just not the audio).
