Hello,

Currently, I am trying to overclock my CPU to no avail.

Specs:
Asus Maximus 8 Hero
Intel i7 - 6700k
4 sticks of G.Skill Ripjaws V 8 GB 2133 MHz DDR4 (total of 32 GB)

When I go into my BIOS and look under the option for AI overclock tuner, the only two options that are shown are Auto and Manual; the XMP option is not present.

Could anyone help with what could be the case? If there is a workaround other than setting it to manual and changing numerical values myself, I'd rather prefer that route. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

That's odd. Have you update your BIOS recently? Check ASUS's website under your motherboard and check the date on the most recent BIOS version. If it is after your date of purchase, you may want to try updating to the most recent version.

If that fails, you can always try clearing CMOS. I don't see why any settings would not allow you to change to an XMP profile, but a factory reset of the bios settings can never hurt (unless you have some insane OC that you don't want to lose the settings to).

Update the BIOS. I had the same issue initially with my Impact VIII. Once I updated the BIOS, the proper profile was there. Unfortunately I found that enabling the XMP profile makes my CPU temps go through the roof.

Hi unlongo,

My BIOS is up to date with the most recent version 1701 which I downloaded off the official ASUS website.
I want to try clearing my CMOS but am unsure how to go about it. Do I press the button once? Hold it down? Does my entire PC have to be unplugged?

PS. I accidently hit your reply as "Best solution" while struggling to hit the reply button. The problem has yet to be solved. :(

Try this. Go into the BIOS - it automatically goes into advanced mode, Drop into the basic mode - I think it is F7. Look towards the left middle of the screen. There should be an option to Enable/Disable XMP in a drop down.
