So im looking to upgrade my PC.
I've got a pretty good graphics card however I was wondering which parts would I need to make compatible with each other e.g, do the processor and the motherboard need to be able to work together and how do I find that out.
Thanks for any answers and keeping up with my limited knowledge :)

Solution
A few starters:
- To ensure the processor and motherboard are compatible; intel cpus should only be fitted into the intel motherboards which have sockets 775, socket 1156 or socket 1366. The same goes for AMD cpus. AMD cpus will work with AMD motherboards which have sockets 939 or socket AM1, AM2/AM2+ or AM3.
- Make sure your gpu is compatible with your motherboard by checking the PCI slot. Make sure your motherboard has the slot PCI Express 16x, this slot is for your graphics card and all modern gpus will work in this slot.

The site that many people find useful when putting together a build is: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/
That website lets you choose your parts, lists the prices for them and even lets you know of compatibility...

Hope I have helped.
