Can parallels corrupt a storage drive

Basically my dad has a 2008-2012 Mac book pro not sure the yr and he went and bought a new hdd for it and installed parallels with xp for work and the drive ended up stop working shortly after was this caused from apple trying to have a Windows storage on the same drive or did he happened to just get a bad drive

Bad drive. A large virtual hard drive with XP on it is just a big file to OSX. Better question is why his work is still using an outdated OS with possible security holes.

There's one software that he uses for his testing unit that hasent been updated ... Yea don't ask me why he was debating on picking up a old p4 to run it if the vm won't work

But yea that's how I thought the vm works

Ahh, got ya. I had some clients that needed an XP sp2 machine for just such software, forgot about that.
