Hey guys,

So I know Alienware is despised by most computer enthusiasts (and with right reason, they really are overpriced for the specs they offer). However, I was browsing online deals for a new home theater computer within 400 dollars (yes, 400), and I came across an Alienware Steam Machine for $440. For $440, this thing offered a quad core i5 (more than enough for my needs), a discrete GPU (a variant of the 860M I think), and a 1 TB hard drive, so I went ahead and bought it. I plan to install Windows 10 onto it.

I've been scouring the internet for a while now, but haven't come across very convincing guides on how to get this thing to boot ONLY to Windows 10. Is there anyone out there that's done this before, or could help me with this? I do have experience cloning hard drives and such, so I have a general idea of what needs to be done, but I'd just feel safer if I could get some help with this. Thanks guys!

Solution
You can install Windows 10 on a usb flash drive and boot from it. Steam machine uses Steam OS which is a version of Linux so it will be no different with installing Windows 10 from a Linux.

So what about drivers? Once I boot from USB and install Windows 10 on a partition that I've created, I plan to wipe SteamOS partition back to free space. However, what'll be the situation with drivers and such?

Well you have to install the drivers but most of the case it should be fine. Windows take care everything for you.
