6 GB & 10 GB RAM Comments

I once bought a new xps 8300 that came from Dell with 6gb ddr3 in 4 slots & I5-2300. I have seen 2 forum comments to the effect that 6 or 10 gb of ram is of little value. Is there a performance problem with 6 or 10? Isn't more ram within reason better?

It is all fine as long as ram is in pairs and works in dual channel mode. If it is not in pairs- it works, but not as fast. Other than that- 6GB might be not enough for games, so 8GB (or more) is better.
