I have been having a problem with my routers I have TP-Link Archer C9 and NetGear N600 both have the same problem they will just disconnect from the internet just out of nowhere. Usually it starts with slow downing and then just disconnects me from everything. I play WoW and during these times the ping will shoot up all the way to the 2000s and disconnect me a short while after sometimes it will reconnect but other times it takes a reboot and sometimes even then it just start disconnecting again few minutes later. The connection to my ISP is fine cause connecting my computer directly to the modem the internet works so suspected it was the connection between the modem and router but no got new cables still having disconnects even bought new cable modem that didn't help either. I enabled and disabled various settings on the routers to no avail. So looked at the routers logs nothing it just shows the Netgear router doesn't show anything out the ordinary and the Archer C9 other than showing the the LED light goes from Blue to Orange nothing in the logs helps.

I'm desperate I don't know what to do anymore anyone got any idea what's going on?

I had an initial thought that it could be an IP confilict but realized that you would probably see some related error message(s) in that case.

Likewise on some set level on the number of allowed network devices.

Check the router's system logs to see if there are any related entries with respect to your sister's iphone while unblocked and blocked.

Not familar with the TP link app on your phone that you mentioned. Does it just allow you to login to your TP Link router admin webpages?

I think this is the manual for your router:

http://www.tp-link.com/resources/document/Archer_C9_V1_UG.pdf

Take a closer look at the existing router settings and see if there is some configuration change(s) that can help with any bandwidth restrictions...

Can you provide a simple diagram of your network?

I would expect something like this:

Cable modem ------ethernet cable ----->[WAN port] TP-Link Router [LAN port] ------ethernet cable ------>[LAN port] Netgear Router [LAN port] ------ethernet cable --------> computer.

Premise: cable modem is just a modem and not a modem/router.

Only one router, the TP-Link in my "diagram" would have DHCP enabled.

What internal IP addresses have you assigned to the routers?

Really need to determine if all is correctly configured as a starting point.

Hopefully just some configuration typo or missed setting. Need more information to work with.

Can you also run and post the results of "ipconfig /all" from your computer.

I just have the netgear router at the moment.
Cable Modem---Ethernet cable---[WAN Port] NetGear Router [LAN port]----ethernet cable-Computer

With respect to the Archer C9: Blue = internet available, Orange =no internet available.

Not seeing anything in the ipconfig results.

What make and model is your cable modem?

You might try turning of the IPv6 functions especially if you do not have that service.

And run "ipconfig /flushdns".

Try a couple more known working Cat 5 or higher cables and switch between ports on the router.

And just for the record call your ISP and have them check things from their end especially when the connections are poor or not working.

Sorry for the late response been sick and ordering new cables and seeing what happens.

The modem is an Arris Surfboard SB6141 and I have turned off the IPv6 still had the disconnects same thing with new higher end cables still the same.

Called my ISP during one of these disconnects and they said everything was fine.

No problem. Some flu-like bug going around here. Hope you feel better.

When you are up to it go out and inspect the incoming ISP cable path as best and as safetly as you can. Look for any signs of physical damage: corrosion, kinks, loose connections, bare metal showing, rodent chews, sharp bends, nails/staple nicks. See how many splitters there are. Does not take much for them to fail and often intermittently. If they are corroded, dirty, exposed, and old then that could be the cuprit. Trace as much of the wiring as you can. Draw it out. If necessary check with the landlord/building management for areas that are not publicly available.

Make additional calls to the ISP as warranted. Especially if the new ethernet cables do not provide relief.

It wasn't the outside cable but I think I may have found the problem could it be a device connected to the router through the WiFi? I say this because I noticed whenever my sister uses her iPhone the problems start and then I decided to use the the TP link app on my phone to block her iphone and boom it reconnected so I unblocked problems started again blocked it again fixed and I've doing to this multiple times to confirm and I'm 99% sure now.

Not sure about your overall family dynamics and the bigger picture of things.

Hopefully you will be able to make some configuration changes that will make things work again without blocking your sister's phone.
