Help me. I just put my pc together in a new case (Corsair 780T) and now it won't boot properly, it turns on for a few seconds then turns off again, it seems to repeat this infinitely. My gpu, mobo, psu, hdd and cpu all work fine (trust me). When I take my 8gb ram stick out it boots fine (as much as a computer CAN boot without ram anyway). I have ZERO dollars to spare and I NEED my PC for work!! Someone please help! Thanks

Solution
Chris - since you say you basically have a budget tighter than a nuns habbit, I recommend the MSI LGA 1150 H81M-P33. It's dirt cheap. Make sure it's not your psu first.
Hi there Chris-22,

Do you have another RAM stick? It seems that there is something wrong with this one.
My suggestion would be to make sure it is properly seated. You can attach it to another slot as well.

If this does not help, you will need to borrow a RAM stick from somebody and try it on your system. That way, you will be sure if the RAM is the cause for all of this.

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)

which cooler and which motherboard is it?

a heavy cooler can damage the CPU socket or the motherboard itself.

ATX12V power connector with 8pins plugged in and not just 4pins or none?
Power connected completely to the graphics card?

Spacers between case and motherboard installed in the correct places, like the manual for the motherboard describes it?

My RAM is seated perfectly and I have tried every slot, all my friends have laptops so their RAM is useless. I don't understand how my RAM stopped working all of a sudden. Could me rebuilding my computer have caused a short or some damaging static? I have no anti static protection. I have a stock cooler on an i7 4790 with a perfect amount of thermal paste.

Rebuilt it, took out the CMOS battery for about 30 mins then put it back in, the pc now turns on but I get no signal to the monitor and no power to the mouse (it's a deathadder and it won't light up) bought new ram did nothing though, I get the same result whether my ram is in or not. Is my mobo faulty?

That can happen if you take the battery out for too long. Try and boot it without the battery. It probably won't start up. Do you have a clear cmos jumper?

Sorry for the double post. Phone wigged out.

You never said if your board has a clear cmos jumper. If it does, put the battery back in. Boot the PC. Turn the PC off, clear the cmos using the jumper and then replace the jumper before turning it back on.

CMOS clearing jumper got the old little black square drive jumper back when ya used to have to jump a hard drive as a master or slave .

Refer to your mother board manual or download the PDF of the mother board manufactures web site some boards do come with a CMOS clear button instead of jumpers

If ya got jumpers ya move it fro one set of pi. To another there replace it where it original was after ya clear the cmos
