Only split PCIe power cables, only need 1 plug for GPU

Quick question: installing new GPU requiring 1x8 pin. PSU (Corsair RM850i) has plenty of 6+2 cables for the job, but, they're all split cables - they all have 2 6+2 plugs per cable.

Should I preferably use the main plug or the final plug that splits from the main cable, or doesn't it matter which of the two I use?

Solution
Oh right. From a power delivery perspective that makes no difference at all. Corsair will have specced that cable to run to provide 300W @ 12V, allowing the full 150W in the spec to be pulled from each 8 Pin cable simultaneously.

Usually you'd use the last one on the cable as it's neater and easier for cable management. But it doesn't matter.

Sorry if I wasn't clear :)

I'm aware that I'm meant to combine the 6-pin and 2-pin to connect to the 8-pin socket.
My question is rather, that since all my 6+2 cables are split (I.e. 2x6-2 pin connectors per cable - 16 pin total for the GPUs that require two), which of the two 6-2 plugs should I use, when I only need one 6-2 pin plug - first 6+2 plug that's at the end of the cable, or the second 6+2 plug that splits off just before the first one, or will either do? :)

Cheers for the answer :)
Went with the first one - turned out it was a bit neater as I could tuck the extension behind it, rather than have it poke out a bit.

On a sidenote, just to satisfy my paranoia, if the card isn't fully inserted, I'd know right away, correct?
The clip's snapped in place, it's properly aligned, and screws are tightend, just my paranoia that makes me wonder if it actually IS inserted all the way despite everything (including the fact that I'm using it now to view these forums ;P)

:) Don't worry, if it isn't in properly it likely won't boot.

If you're really paranoid and want to make absolutely sure you can download GPU-Z from here: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
It'll report the "Bus Interface" which will tell you how many PCIe lanes the card has access to. It'll always have x1 lane at idle (power saving), but if you push the little "?" it'll run a render test and you can see how many PCIe lanes the card is using. If you get "x16" then your card has access to all lanes. 99.9% it does and testing is wasting your time, but it seems like you're the kind of person that will take 10 minutes to cover off that last 0.1% chance, so there's your option.
