I'm helping a friend figure this out..

He's looking to turn his old HP CP2025 wireless. The printer is currently in one corner of the office and based on his current setup, ethernet and USB are not options.

I'm aware of wireless print servers but I hear they are not reliable. Is that true?

I was also thinking... I have an extra router with DD-WRT installed. Could this router be used as a repeater bridge (is that right?) with the printer plugged into the USB port? I'm very new to DD-WRT so this could be a fun little project. We want every device to be in the same wireless network.

What other options does he have? We are looking for a quick but reliable solution.

Thanks!

Edit: perhaps this will do the trick?!

The WAN and LAN IP should be set automatically, aside from one step you do during configuring it if you need to, but that is on the computer you use to set it up, and then you change it back to how it was. According to the setup instructions, you either use WPS to set it up, or set a computer to static IP temporarily and connect to the config page of the device to set it up. Was that done already?
If the printer does not have USB (as you said "Ethernet and USB are not options"), you won't be able to connect to an USB port of a router.

I did not read full specification of that printer (can't open the page on HP website), but being labeled as "office / enterprise", I would not be surpised if there is JetDirect slot available, and JetDirect print servers are relatively cheap. This is where your spare router (or that Netgear you are referring to) could fill in as "media converter" to pick-up WiFi and convert it to Ethernet.
