Looking for a Graphics Card that would work with a Dell Optiplex 960

Hello guys,

So I'm hoping to find a graphics card that would work with my Dell Optiplex 960. I've seen this question but I haven't really found and answer for the specific case I have.

Of those 3 computers, I have the Optiplex in the middle. Is there any graphics card that I'll be able to use? I'm looking for one with at least 512 MB of VRAM, and it does not necessarily have to be new, it can be an older graphics card that could maybe run games made a year or 2 ago at lowest settings. Right now I have 256 MB of VRAM and I'm hoping to increase it.

If anyone needs more information, I'd be glad to give it

your problem here is the power supply in that unit is only 255W. for most cards the floor on PSU is 300W the ceiling being 1000W (dual or quad cards)
you could put any half height card you want if you upgrade the power supply, and after this long (6years +) a new PSU is just good advice.

the case has one low profile x16 slot available

I would suggest you research and study your Dell Optiplex 960 first. Find out your make & model of your motherboard. Find out what it can & can’t support. I don’t want you wasting money on a video card and later find out that your motherboard will not support it.

If you have the chance, open up your Dell Optiplex 960 and get a good idea what it looks like inside.

Just a side note:
You might be happier maxing out your memory and upgrading to a SSD.

your model is the desktop model it will be listed in the middle when three options are given

According to what R_1's second link, it says I'd be able to use the NVIDIA GEFORCE 9300 GE. If this is in the guide itself, is it possible that it would most probably work on my Dell? Also, how good is the NVIDIA GEFORCE 9300 GE? On the guide it says it has 256 MB, but is it better than what I have right now (ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series)
