Overclocking gpu but not cpu

Is it worth it to only overclock a gpu and not my cpu.
some of my specs:
Intel Core i5-6500
MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon
MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G
Kingston HyperX Fury black HX318C10FBK 2/8

I found a way to overclock the cpu but i am still not sure if its doable on non-K cpu's. I want to wait with overclocking the cpu until i know 100% it will work. So i am planning on only overclocking gpu. But is that worth it and will it give better performance ?

Other than benchmarking, you're not going to have a noticeable improvement in performance by overclocking your CPU in comparison to overclocking your GPU.

Some games don't benefit much from CPU overclocking. But some games do.
