Wasn't the price of the 1070 supposed to be 380?

Hey, so I am not sure what the particular reason is that the gtx 1070 is at 440~ USD is it because of the shortage of card's being made ? Or has nvidia backed off from there first pricing ? If the first theory is right after maybe 6 months do you think it will die down ?

I think most probably market shortage, but what brands you are checking?

As I can see on newegg, the Gigabyte is around 400usd but out of stock ASUS, MSI around 410usd.

I think if you wait until discounts (Maybe Christmas or before that there will be discounts hopefully on them too)

The lowest price would be for the most basic reference model at stock clocks. These models, which should come in at $379, are not available in stores in the US as far as I can see. Where there is a base reference design, they've been slapping a factory overclock on it and raising the price. This MSI Aero OC for example at $409. (and sold out).
