I know that most new electronics smell (a metallic smell) but my new EVGA Supernova G2 750W PSU chocked me. When I unboxed(wrapped in plastic) it the smell filled the room directly. It's like that metallic smell that most Circuit boards have but 100 times stronger.
And mounted in the computer the smell fills upp the room even more -I had to turn it off since I started to get naseus after half an hour.
It's NOT the burning smell from fried things- I smelled that from my old, former PSU recently and had to scrap it.
Is this somewhat normal- will the smell go away? (I selldom buy new electronics so I dont know?)
Is it dangerous?

if it smells bad there may be a bad cap or qa issue (they may have not cleaned the pcb of all of the flux). and that what your smelling. I would rma it back if it under 30 days if it older and you cant i call the power supply vendor ask for a level 2/3 customer support rep and tell them the unit works but there a bad non buring smell from them unit. and you like to exchange it for a new unit not rma part.

Returned the EVGA supernova unit to the store and got a different brand as a replacment, a Fractal design Edison M 750. The guys in the store said it was a plastic smell that wears of. (I have never smelled any plastic like that!) I tried to smell the casings for several different PSU in the store but they where all sealed in plastic wrapping.(??)
Well the new Fractal Design unit stinks allmost as bad. And since it's summer I have the screen window in all the time so the room is VERY well ventilated.
I can't belive no one else has a problem with the smell these Power supply units put out. Do I have a supersence of smell or what? And can this really be healty? I'm getting a bit tired of the whole computer industry, no wonder everybody just buys a phone -they don't stink!
