Hello everyone!

I could be wasting your time with the chit chat you usually see in these posts, but I'm going to tell you right away what bothers me...

I can't decide what to choose regarding the GPU...

I made 2 builds, very similar, only difference is the GPU... Tell me what you guys think (which should I choose), and what are your alternative suggestions under 500$? I am also wondering whether my system is ok or not?

Here are the builds:

Any thoughts and comments will help (not litteraly any, but you get the point)!

Thanks in advance!

P.S. up to 500$ for the GPU, duh!

Solution
assuming you actually need the power of a 1070, then the 1070 is the way to go, at some point in the future you can get another one, 960's gives you no upgrade path.

Also, SLI is not perfect, there are issues, power usage will be greater as will heat production and the issues with managing it. SLI is a last resort , not a first resort.

Is your budget $500 for the whole PC or just the GPU?

When choosing a GPU it is also important to know what resolution and refresh rate you are aiming for. A monitor that is 1080p/60 hz refresh doesn't need the power of what a 4k display needs. In general if you are at 1080p you want a RX 480 or GTX 1060. For 1440p or 1080p with high refresh rate (120/144hz) gaming or higher a GTX 1070/1080 is the way to go.

Mate... 500$ for the GPU, obviously, and the monitor is there as well (1440p 144hz)

I have the same monitor, very pleased with it.

Case is pricey, but that's a matter of opinion.

You don't NEED an i7, but it might last a bit longer.

8GB is fine

PSU is massively overpowered 750-800W will get you to 2-way 1070 if needed.

I'd reduce the PSU, use that money to buy a 2nd 3TB drive and use the second as a full backup, or go smaller and just make a system backup, i.e. everything that can't be downloaded again.

I know the PSU is really overkill, but I plan on keeping it until it lives, with my future systems.

I plan on making a 5000$ beast in the future, thats why the PSU i chose is ok 2 me

You are right, but at first you did not include this information, mate.

Given that the two proposed builds were >500, then it can be worked out ...
