So I overclocked my 970 using MSI afterburner and I put the power limit to 110% and temp limit to 86,the core clock was set to 155 at first, then tested up to 180.The memory was working great on 400 MHz.The first day everything ran fine at around 56 degree celcius. It ran GTA V at a stable 60FPS without artifacts. Also League Of Legends ran fine. The next day I was in game in League, and suddenly a dark green screen appeared on my monitor, dissapeared and my game crashes,it keeps doing this, even if I reduce the overclocking. But when I keep it on stock,it doesn't crash.

Solution
well ? you could try to reinstall that game ?? if the game crashes and the sound loops could be in the program

does seem lik league has issues overall anyway ???

may need to google it around and look over whats reported and any resolves and give them a look see?? assume leagues is a older game and may not be too optimized for todays powerful hardware as well ??

just may come down to you will have to run the game with your card at stock settings all the time ?

sounds like your card cant hold that overclock ?? all that's at your own risk and luck of the draw on if you get a good overclocker or not you may just be in the not group of cards ?? all your guaranteed is the factory clocks stated/speced for your card not a drop more

Huh?I've seen other people go up to 210+ core clock with the card. Also keep in mind I have not touched the core voltage as it really isn't worth it

Hmmm,so what do you recommend as an option here?Is there anyway I can successfully OverClock my GPU?

''The advantage of factory overclocked GPU's is that not all silicon boards are born equal. Some can overclock better than others and already overclocked boards means they reached higher clock speeds and are stablized by the original manufacturer. Some of the factory overclocked GPU's got specialized PCB's and implementations that make them achieve even higher clock speeds through manual overclockings but like I said, not all of them can overclock as good as the other.''

''Binning does occur, but much like the MSI rep said, for the vast majority it's still the luck of the draw. That being said there are some considerations to keep in mind.''

all there is to it is the best you/it can if at all like I said it may not take any overclock no matter what you try to do , that's life

just do the best it can with out any crashes or shutdowns artifacting ect.... like I said you may not get anything stable over what the card is set for out of the box from the factory

The overclock settings are fine, but when Im in a game of league,it crashes, all the time (only in league not anywhere else).Other than that everything else is flawless

well heres the deal could be the game nothing s prefect. set your card back to default stock settings [save your oc profile to easy load back] and run the game if the game runs normal and the game don't crash as it is with the oc applied then it your overclock causing issues in that game if the game crashes at stock settings it may be in the game or something else ?

I had overclocks test well in everything but still may cause a issue in a certain games or program . that's why you keep that oc profile use it where it works best and run factory speed where in like that one thing it don't or bench the card to that game you having the most issue with until it works at the best oc you can get for it

so with that I would use that game that's crashing your overclock to bench a new overclock settings to insure its stable and your best all around oc you can get ???

just re do your overclock to that game as the bench test for the settings get the best stable oc on it and call it good if all the rest work fine

well if leages is the game you crashing with on your overclock then use that game to set up your overclock

like this I can oc my card under heaven 4.0 pretty good but I may load another game or bench and that OC will crash under it so I adjust to that until it don't have any crashing due to the oc on anything I run and callit the best all day everyday OC my card can do and save it under profile 1

I also save that best highest overclock like I can get under running heaven 4.0 under say profile 2 so when I wany to show off a high score I load profile 2 and run heaven for the besrt possible scoring in it and so on

but that oc under profile 1 is the overclock I can use with anything all day with out any issue no matter what I rin under it .

like now just browsing the web my card is just running at default stock clocks cause I don't need any overclocking of my card for doing it only time I use a overclock of my cards is when I want to show off

I already previously tried what you suggested. It seems like League of Legends just wont work with overclock settings. Here's what I'll do.I'll use the OC profile for other games, but I will use the stock settings for League of legends and anything else OC sensitive.

Never mind.I put the OC settings on MSI Afterburner, forgot to change it to stock, played league and BAM.PC freezes so bad the sound crashes as well and repeats itself.
