Where to find the highest amount of cores at a reasonable price

I'm building a computer for work that will have to do lots of rendering. I'm looking to buy a CPU with as high of a number of cores as I can possibly afford, around $1000.

Any suggestions?

Would you say that 8-core is the highest I'd be able to get for that price? What would be the next one up?

my Mistake, the Best CPU for that kind of money will be the http://ark.intel.com/products/94196/Intel-Core-i7-6900K-Processor-20M-Cache-up-to-3_70-GHz its the new 8 core, 16 thread Skylake and its fantastic.
