So i'm doing my first ever pc build and i'm conflicted whether to get the rx 480 4gb or the gtx 970.

i want my pc to handle fallout 4 on ultra settings at 1080p and handle high quality texture mods but i don't know if heavily modding fallout will impact on my graphics card performance, will i need a better graphics card or will i need 8gbs of vram to be safe.

The cpu is chose is a FX 8320 which i believe is the best choice due to its 8 cores at low price.
Ram is 16GB cos i don't want a slow pc.

Solution
I would go RX 480. It can handle maxed out 1080p pretty well. Plus 8gb of VRAM is nice to have.

Don't assume more cores are better. The i5 6600K will do better gaming than the 8320.

Good choice on RAM. 16 gb is starting to become more standard.

what about the 480 4gb, or would 8gb be better when dealing with high quality mods or would the be no difference

MERGED QUESTION
Question from AMD-Master-Chief : "Is this PC build good for playing Fallout 4 at 1920x1080 60fps ultra with over 300 mods"

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/ARRadiation/saved/#view=Y34Ff7

I'm trying to get a great pc for under £1000 with accessories included, I don't want to spend £500 on a gpu since i am kind of a console player as well so I'm not devoted to pc gaming.

I think this pc will be good for all my modding needs.
the SSD is solely for fallout 4 and it's mods.

the graphics card has to be over 4gb for anyone wondering because 4k textures will likely make the vram subpass 4GB.

any improvements or advise is appreciated and kinda needed, oh and i know that i can get some PC parts cheaper than the prices shown.
