Hello,

I have a laptop NP300E4 from samsung, It's running a 32nm i3-2350m sandy bride 2 core CPU. @2.3ghz.
My laptop has been sitting in it's laptop bag for more than 2 years, when the screen was shattered.
Few days ago I've invested my time and replaced the screen, but that's when another trouble popped up.

While watching some videos online I noticed that the laptop was getting hot. So, I opened up CoreTemp and got a measure of core#1 74 degrees C: minimum and 83 degrees C on max. The same goes for core#2.

The load on the CPU (via task manager) is 20 - 27%.

TL;DR, CPU temp at 74-85C on NP300e4 laptop.

Is this normal or rather too high for a laptop under this kind of load?

Thank you in advance,
Andre

Solution
Sounds high, might want to replace the thermal compound - this might help :

i agree - that is high for the cpu load. If you do go the thermal paste route - be sure to thoroughly clean fan/exhaust fins. This is by far the best solution but ....
If you're intimidated by motherboard removal etc., you could try blowing compressed air into the exhaust vent (turn laptop off 1st)- you might get lucky. Also, a laptop cooling pad would help a little.
I'm assuming you can hear your fan running? - does it kick into high speed at around 65 C?
