Hi. I had a working PC for years now, but after updating the BIOS now it won't boot (everything starts running but I get no display, a black screen).

In order to solve this problem I've tried clearing the CMOS, both by removing the battery for 15 minutes, and also by changing the jumper in the motherboard (http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005630.html).

Booting without any RAM is the same as booting with the two sticks connected. That is strange, because the speaker should be beeping when no RAM is there, or shouldn't it?

The green LED light of the mobo is always on when I try to boot, without flashing or blinking or nothing.
I've also tried removing the GPU and booting connected to the onboard graphics, but the result is the same.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

sounds like a bad bios flash and you need to preform the bios recovery

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22273/BIOS-Update-BLH6710H-86A-?product=50098

download your .BIO file version 160

then follow instructions from intel for bios recovery
http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/motherboards/desktop/sb/recoverybiosupdateinstructions.pdf

this is why intel like most say "Update the BIOS on your computer only if the newer BIOS version specifically solves a problem you have. We do not recommend BIOS updates for computers that do not need it. " because if your computer is working fine there's no reason to risk messing it up.
