Hello guys, I am in dire need of ANY help you guys could provide me. Basically, my computer started randomly blue-screening, my friends told me it was faulty ram, so I went and purchased a new set of ram today. The BSOD's are still occurring. What is odd though, even with a clean boot of Windows 10, my HDD has been hovering around 70-90% usage all day today. I am not very computer savvy so I need assistance please! If you guys need some logs to assist me, I'll need direction of which to post, thank you!

Computer specs:

Amd fx 8350 cpu 4.0ghz
EVGA gtx 970 ssc acx 2.0
WD 1TB HDD
16 gb PNY DDR3 1600mhz

Screenshot of current processes/disk usage: Here

Before we review your BSOD logs, Go to your Task Manager and review what the system is running. There are many services that can hog your system and even saturate RAM. That can be stopped or delayed. MS updater is one.
Identify the hog if you can and report back.

From your pic i can't see any major resource hog.
Run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt to see if any system files have been corrupted and to eliminate that possibility. List the MB and DIMMs p/n to check for compatibility issues.

My issue seems to be with my HDD. Here is a link of my current processes sorted by total usage.

EDIT: It's worth noting that I am running a clean boot of Windows 10, no 3rd party services are running.

ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 is the MOBO

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/

My RAM is:

PNY DDR3 | 16 GB | 1600MHZ (PC3-12800) | CL11 | 1.5V

No issues were found with scannow

Hi there Crucial_x3,

That is really unpleasant. :(
What did the BSOD say? Some kind of an error message?

My suggestion would be to just check if your drive is in a good condition. You can do so, if you test it with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool(both short and extended tests): http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=eOMdFo
If there is something wrong with it, you need to back up the data stored on it ASAP.

If the drive is in a healthy state, you can attach the drive with different cables to a different port.
That way, you will rule out two possible causes: faulty drive and faulty connections.

If the issue persists, then all of this is most probably related to background OS services. There are multiple threads on 100% disk usage issues with Win 10, with different solutions. You can go through several of those.

It may be a good idea to check your page file settings as well.

It is important to have DIMMs that are listed and tested in conjunction with the motherboard.
This list is the QVL and lists all frequency and kit sizes available that have been tested as at 25/6/2014 and not updated since. Your Dimms are not listed, so they may or may not work.

Go here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM3+/M5A99FX_PRO_R20/M5A_Series_DRAM_QVL_201406.pdf?_ga=1.108608897.229132154.1468896159

It would be advisable to go into your Bios and manually set your primary timings and voltage as per your SPD info, which can be got from CPUz in windows.

If after this the system BSOD then obtain and post the mini dump for scrutiny.

I ran the WD program, using full and quick scans, it passed both. My disk usage is down after spending all night on some forums and applying fixes.

My problem now is no longer high disk usage, or BSOD's for that matter. My computer now seems to randomly freeze, completely lock up, requiring a hard reboot. Display drivers and windows are both fully updated, any help on the freezing would be greatly appreciated.

As I mentioned the D_KNOW my hard drive usage and memory no longer seem to be the issue, my computer isn't blue screening or even crashing anymore. My main problem now is random freezes.

Sorry for the late reply.

What is your PSU?
Have you checked your system temps?

When do these freezes happen?(under heavy load?)

It will not hurt to try running your system with only 1 RAM stick at a time. See if this would make any difference.
