Overclocking i3 6100 on ASRock Z170A-X1/3.1 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Hey there guys, i know that it is possible to overclock a non k i3 6100 on the Z170 platform, but ive read that Intel has tried stopping by talking with respected motherboard brands. Does anyone know whether intel has had any success? I really want to but this motherboard is i am getting a real good deal for it but the only reason i want a Z170 is to overclock the i3 6100. Can this motherboard surely be used to overclock it?

Do you think the i3 6100 @4.6Ghz paired with DDR4 3000Mhz memory could close the gap between this and the i5 6500? Ive seen various benchmarks of the i3 6100 with very fast memory, and it seems to take a huge advantage from it. Also the main reason why i would bother spending extra on faster memory and a Z170 board so that i can just upgrade to the i5 6600k or the i7 6700k in the late future. If there alot cheaper, il probably go for it, but might still go for Z170 cause of future plan.
