GPU for Game Development?

Hi everyone, I am currently getting together a parts list to build a new desktop which I will be using when I start school soon to learn about game design and development. I am hoping to use it for both school and as a workstation after I have finished. Because of that I am trying to make the best decision early on. However at this point I think I'm not educated enough on the matter of GPUs or especially Unreal Engine 4, which is what I'm planning to use. I also don't know if game development would require me to use any other softwares or the required GPU strength for those individual programs.

I enjoy 3D RPGs such as Final Fantasy 10, as well as games like Skyrim, and these are the sorts of games I would like to create. Ideally, with the release of the new Pascal gpus I would like to buy a 1070. However because of my budget I may need to get a 1060 instead. If I am hoping to make games like these (and aside from the genre, i doubt my own games would/could rival these graphically) would a 1060 suffice? Or would I need to go up to a 1070 or maybe even higher?

As it stands I have a 6-core i7 5820k with 16GB ram and a 250GB ssd for my OS (just in case these additional specs have any influence- I read that I should go for a 6-core processor for development over 4 cores). Thank you so much to anybody who is willing to help and can give me some advice as to the best decision for my needs!

Do you have any idea what software are you going to use ?
Usually Quadro and AMD Firepro cards are better for 3d modelling, as they are made to do that.
You could play games with them too but you wont have the same performance as gaming cards.
Also 16gb ram is okay, but if you are going to do fluid simulations and render big scenes with many polygons you would need more ram, probably 32gb would be enough.
What is your monitor ? If you have more than 1080p, you would prolly need a higher end workstation card and definitely more ram.
