WiFi or cable gaming 1.1 Km distance

Hi

I have a 200mb internet connection and would like to have a friend join me playing online games. He lives about 1 km away from my house and doesn't have a reliable internet connection.

Is there a way of getting him to use my connection? Would an Ethernet cable from my router to his work? Or maybe some WiFi device if such exists?

Please help.

Well boosting your own routers range wouldn't help, he is a mile or 2 miles away from you.
To understand the problem it abit more, get his router and internet connection setup.

Does he have router, does he have a dsl/cable modem, does he connect to the internet via through ethernet cord or wireless adaptor ?

Those 2 items I linked would be a good starting point, playing a game through adhoc mode over long distances is impossible.
As it would need to be done locally from within your house or building such as an apartment complex.

Where do you live at currently and what isp services is available to you ?

He does but its very slow and unreliable. a better connection is obviously unavailable.

if a cord is out of the question. I've heard of some WiFi devices that boost your router's signal 'or maybe boost your own router so you can connect to wifi devices 2 km far?' is that possible?
