Hi all,

I'm about to build a new rig which will be used only for watching 4K content on my 4K TV. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7. With no gaming intentions will the on board chip suffice for that purpose? (Of course regular pc use, web surfing etc should work)

any help is very much appreciated! :)

The i5 6600K has HD Graphics 530 (9th generation). The HD 530 features 24 EUs (execution units) , runs at 1150MHz and supports Direct3D 12. HDMI 2.0 is not supported by default (only HMDI 1.4a is supported) so 4K @ 60Hz is only available on DisplayPort 1.2. But there is a DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 converter that makes it possible to get 4K @ 60Hz on UHD TVs.

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7
Onboard Video Chipset:
Integrated Graphics Processor-Intel HD Graphics support:
1 x DisplayPort, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096x2160@24 Hz or 3840x2160@60 Hz
* Support for DisplayPort 1.2 version.

Integrated Graphics Processor+MegaChips MCDP2800 chip:
1 x HDMI port
* HDMI feature is currently limited. Visit GIGABYTE website for future updates...

Thanks Calvin, I'm a bit confused now though.
Will I be having 2 graphics chips (1 on CPU and 1 on motherboard)?
Will I be able to pick which one should work?

many thanks for bearing with me on this one
