So I have this monitor, LG W2243S-PF, and I'm planning on buying RX 480. The monitor is still pretty good, 22 inches, full HD and I don't want to change it. Now if I use a VGA to DVI adapter will there be a decrease in perfomance?
Yup I agree, like said above though not any adapter will work you need something that will convert digital to analog. I linked one below they are a bit more expensive then a passive adapter.
Some of the aftermarket cards will have a DVI-D port.
Then I would recommend holding off on buying an adapter until third party cards with DVI support actually come out. I would recon that if they have a DVI it will probably be DVI-I in which case you wouldn't need to worry about an active adapter, you could go with passive.

It's highly unlikely you'll see a DVI-I. AMD has been phasing them out and Nvidia has started to aswell.

Didn't even notice that, I just took a look at my new card and sure enough it's DVI-D.
