Hi,

I am currently running Memtest 86 to see if my Ram is dead / not functioning properly.
Here is my system:
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/ptrickono/saved/jGDXsY

Here are the results I am getting:
1. When running the test with my two sticks of RAM in slots 1 and 2 I received a 8% pass rate (4/48 tests passed)
2. When running the test with my two sticks of RAM in slots 3 and 4 I received very similar results as 1.
3. Running RAM stick 1 in all slots (one at a time) I receive no errors.
4. Running RAM stick 2 in all slots (one at a time) I receive no errors.

To clarify, by slots I mean sockets. In order from left to right we have socket DDR3_4, DDR3_2, DDR3_3, DDR3_1.

So I am very confused on what this means as it seems that both RAM sticks work but not in dual channel? Any comments and help / what to do next would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Slots 1 and 2? Look in your manual I highly doubt its using slots one and two for duel channel, more likely 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. Yes your ram is taking a ton of errors when in slots 1 and 2 + 3 and 4. I would try the test again with the memory in slots 2 and 4.

To clarify, by slots I mean sockets. In order from left to right we have socket DDR3_4, DDR3_2, DDR3_3, DDR3_1.

In the manual it states that for optimum performance, when enabling dual channel mode with two memory modules, we recommend that you install them in the DDR3_1 and DDR3_2 sockets, doing this gave me the large amount of errors.

If I am not mistaken XMP mode is overclocking your RAM? I have not overclocked my memory.

Well I guess you could consider it overclocking, not really though. XMP mode sets your ram to run at its advertised speeds, which is 1600mhz CL9-9-9-24. Without it your motherboard will use some default profile and likely set the ram to 1333mhz and different timings. It could possibly be using a setting that's causing your errors. XMP mode will set your ram to run at the settings it was designed to run it, extreme memory profile (XMP) its just a profile that contains the settings for your ram.

Alright i'll give it a shot! Hopefully it works as right now I'm stuck in the "preparing automatic repairs" loop and I think it might be because my ram is not working properly or my SSD is corrupt.

Yes I am going to do that once Memtest stops running as I decided to run all the tests again just to be sure. Now something changed my "2nd stick of ram" is displaying all sorts of errors - only test 1/4 and I am up to 20462 errors and counting. This is on my second run of Memtest, my "1st stick of ram" when I ran the tests again came back as having no errors and now the 2nd stick of ram is displaying all sorts of errors. Is Memtest known for being inconsistent?

Thank you very much!
