Freshly built computer turning off immediately

I'll admit immediately that I'm not an expert at computers--I'm a rookie wants to learn (and at the same time I wanted a good gaming computer), so I ordered a bunch of parts and took to building a computer.
I'm 90% sure that everything is plugged in more or less properly (although at time of writing the graphics card isn't plugged in, though that's just because it was getting in the way), but when I go to turn it on, plugging it in causes the fans to turn on for a couple seconds, then it just turns back off. The motherboard's power and reset button are still red, so it's receiving SOME power, but yeah. The power button on top of the case also doesn't seem to be functioning, despite my best efforts to put those plugs in exactly as they're suppose to be.
But yeah, the computer turns on, the CPU fan spins and the disk drive appears to be functioning, and then it stops entirely and nothing happens. Any ideas?

CPU: AMD FX-8350
Mobo: ASRock 970
PSU: Silverstone 500W
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB

If the power button is not working, how are you turning it on? Is the video card in the computer but no power attached, or not in at all?

Go over the setup again, make sure everything is hooked up properly, make sure the motherboard is installed in the case properly (you used the standoffs right?), maybe find a friend/relative that has build computers before and have them check things with you.
