Hey everyone,

My computer has been running into some issues lately. The graphics card just decides to turn off and crash the system. Its happend twice in 10 min, and other times it just happens unexpectedly. This issue just started recently and the first thing i tried was to make sure the graphics card was seated properly. That did not yeild any result, so i tried to uninstall drivers and re-install them to rid of any bugs. The issue still happens. Any ideas? You can find my computer specs in the signature of the post

Re-seating the GPU and cleaning the contacts while you are at it is a simple and inexpensive thing to try. Cross your fingers and hope that your issue was this simple.

Do you mean that monitors go out and then come back a while later without rebooting your PC or that your whole PC crashes/shuts down and you need to restart it?

If the whole PC goes out, it could be a number of other issues such a dying PSU. If the drivers manage to recover by dumping and reloading without bringing the whole PC down with them and you get the same issue after re-installing different driver versions, then it could be a hardware issue with the GPU. Dirty power to the GPU from the PSU may also cause such random hardware errors.

The first time it happend the monitors just turned off, but i could hear the movie that i was watching in the backround. The computer was still on, however the gpu just shut off. Now, the monitors just turn off and the system just crashes. Ive experienced this when drivers were not installed. But now, I have no Idea what the issue could be.

After i posted about my issue I went ahead and pulled out the gpu, dusted the pcie slot and the connector and put it back in. So far, there is no crash. Ill keep you posted. Thanks for the reply!

Well it looks like you have eliminated most possible issues, which means that the gpu could be dead. Make sure pcie power is fully plugged in, as well as other connectors on the motherboard(CPU Power, 24pin power, etc.). I tried this on my rig, and it seems to work perfectly fine. Another problem is that the drivers could be failing. In that case, just re-download them.
