You cannot replace the PSU at all with that case.

If you want to go cheap you can get a Corsair 200R case usually for around $50 us. And then for your PSU you should look for an XFX TS 550 or Seasonic S12 II 520

Case

Is there a cheaper psu that will fit your case ?

There is no PSU that will fit your case.

Proprietary means it was made specifically for that model. There are no PSUs made to fit it properly other than the stock one which won't work for you.

Also to do this you may need to replace the DVD drive as well, as it has a proprietary connector. HP computers are just not made to be upgraded.

Any cheaper than that is generally junk, not worth buying. Its the same price as the original one you selected.

Any PSU will fit in the new case I linked, as long as its ATX which is about 90% of the PSUs on the market today.

The DVD drive just won't be able to be brought over, if you need one you will need to buy a new one.

Not really.

Its pretty simple, other than the PSU and DVD drive just move everything in 1 shot. The motherboard has about 8 screws, remove them, move the board over making sure all holes line up with the mounts and screw it down, then move over your hard drive, install the CD drive, PSU, etc. Take pictures as you take it apart, and then refer to them when putting it back together.
