How do I disable integrated graphics (without using the dedicated GPUs video output)

My monitor has a displayport and VGA port and my GPU only has an HDMI (Geforce 8600gt) so I plugged the VGA into my motherboard's I/O. Now it only uses my FX-8320e integrated graphics.

So how do I keep the VGA cable plugged in to the motherboard while using the dedicated GPU's power? Is it even possible? Any advice is appreciated.

what's weird is that I had another projector that used HDMI and this asus 8600gt still didn't display anything, it has a port for a 2 pin cable but I think it's just for audio. any suggestions?

primary task of a card is display...it it doesnt do that, its kaput...
