Hello Toms Hardware! I would like to ask if my motherboard would work with this version of the 1080.

Motherboard: MSI Z170 KRAIT GAMING

Graphics Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX-GTX1080-8G-GAMING 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 Video Card

You're asking if a modern gaming motherboard can handle a modern graphics card, the answer seems very simple, of course it can.

It sure will , the board has the needed 3.0 PCIE slot , and as long as you have at least a decent 550w to run it your good to go.

Hopefully you have a nice i5 or i7 to pair with it.

GPU Clearance With HDD Cage: 294mm
GPU Clearance Without HDD Cage: 428mm

Clears easy with cage removal.

I'm very new to computer stuff, I don't know if I used the HDD cage, as I have a hard drive.

Just in case can you check if the 1080 will also work with these parts? (sorry if I need a lot of information, I just don't want to buy a $700 card for it to not fit or work)

Mine is 286 but black bird is correct. Move a few HDD bays and you should be fine

I installed mine with the bay's and it was a tight fit. I am at work at the moment and won't finish for another 4 hours so when I get home I will check my machine and let you know for sure though sure though

Just checked as I removed the bays after I installed the graphics card. Your card will 100% fit! Almost another 200mm extra space without one of the bays

Hello! I ordered it, and it just came today. The only problem I see so far is that it came with a cd for the software, and I don't have an optical drive.
Any solutions?

Edit, or you can go to the Asus website and download the driver plus "gpu tweak"
