I was recently gifted an Alienware Aurora R4 alx that had an overheating issue. I took care of that issue, with some cleaning and new thermal paste. The computer has an I7 3820 3.6 ghz, 8gb DDR3-1600 ram and an AMD Radeon 7800 series gpu.

I am looking to possibly get into VR gaming. Would I be able to upgrade the R4 enough or would it be more cost effective to just sell it and put the money to building a new gaming computer. Thanks

Solution
The cheapest solution would be to just replace your graphics card to a RX 480 or GTX 1060. The rest of the pc will do for now. If you really want to build a new pc, just quote me a budget. Also if you want to handle VR very well, get a GTX 1070.

Thanks for the input. I wasn't sure if it was going to be able to handle a GTX 1070. I will probably go that route and upgrade the ram to 16, and throw in a SSD. It should be capable for a few years with that set-up, correct?
